For this assignment we were required to group into fours and fives and choose one Spanish speaking country- we chose Venezuela. From there you pick four topics to cover, we chose Art, Culture, and Holidays, which was the portion I covered, Current Events, Geography, and Food and Entertainment. We had to present a plan to our class a week later, which we did by showing them who was assigned what category, and sources we will be using to learn more about our topic. I felt this assignment addressed the 21st century skill Global awareness because it demonstrated an understanding of the thinking, motivations, and actions of different cultures and countries through visuals such as our posters made for this project. I'm most proud of the conversion of English to Spanish because my teacher said I did well on it, including the grammar which normally I do bad on in English. I learned and developed said 21st century skill by gaining knowledge of other countries through others presenting to me, as well as knowledge from the research me and my teammates did on Venezuela and it's culture. The most difficult part of the assignment was definitely presenting. Normally I'm mediocre at presenting, however presenting in Spanish is totally different and completely nerve wracking. I was definitely shaking, talking too fast, and the pronunciation could use some work. If I were to do this assignment again I'd probably do more research on the holidays and traditions. I could've also memorized and presented my part of the project in more Spanish rather than bits and pieces. This assignment relates to what I learned in Spanish 1 last year. We, similarly, learned more about the different Spanish speaking countries, and though I didn't present that time on Venezuela I do remember seeing it being presented. I can apply the knowledge gained to future learning to improve upon my pronunciation and Spanish vocabulary and grammar. I could also have more to say if the topic of Venezuela comes up.
