Geometry Comic What was the assignment? We were assigned to complete a comic strip about anything of our choosing, however the comic strip had to include three geometric problems. Two problems for cosine, sin, and tangent and the solving of different parts of the triangle, and one problem had to be about finding the angle of a triangle. What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why? I’m most proud of my drawings in this comic strip. I’m a terrible artist, so it was great to be able to draw something I was proud of, and was still funny to me. Which 21st Century Skills do you feel this assignment addresses, and why? I think this project correlates with thinking and problem solving because I demonstrated thinking and problem solving through art, explanation, and example within my comic. How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skills with this assignment? I believe I developed and improved upon this 21st century skill by gaining experience and applying sin, cosine, and tangent. I used problem solving and enhanced those skills by looking to see what was missing from my project and decided how I could fix it. What was most difficult about completing this task? The most difficult thing about completing this project was, again, the drawing. I’m terrible at drawing, so this assignment was challenging, however gave me the what I needed to push me out of my comfort zone. How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do differently? I think if I were to start over I would have gave more difficult examples in the comic, and more thoroughly explained the process. How does this relate to what you have learned in the past? Well we went over the calculator early on in school, however I never really understood what sin, cosine, and tangent were used for. How can you apply this to future learning? I can apply this to all areas of math, considering this knowledge is a necessity in higher math learning. And I know I will be able to use this math knowledge in my college algebra 2 course.
