The assignment was called the Earth's Geological Story. The goal was to understand a basic background of how our planet was formed and how life on it developed. We had to cover one eon, era, time, or event and build a slideshow based on it. I believe this slideshow represents the 21st century skill Global Awareness. Through the slideshow, students were able to demonstrate an understanding of actions that transpired across the globe from the starting points of our solar system, to our current time. Honestly, I think I am proud of how neat and put-together the slides look. There was a lot of information that needed to be covered, and I was able to cover it utilizing one slide without the slide looking ugly. I was also proud of my presentation. Though I am an extrovert and typically cannot keep my mouth shut, I hate presenting projects in front of peers whom I see almost every day. I believe I developed this 21st century skill by simply researching the Archean Eon. Many websites talked about what it looked like globally, and the effects it still has now. For example, the Archean Eon is known for producing stromatolites, however now you can visit and explore hundreds of living stromolites on the coast of Australia. What was really challenging about this assignment was the Is My Source Credible? assignment needed for our project. The idea was to analyze sources and dig out the unbiased websites from the biased websites. The main part of this that was difficult was the required part of finding an obviously biased source that is about your topic. There isn't a ton of controversy or even talk about the Archean Eon so it was really hard to find a source. However, I was able to find a christian website I ended up using that claimed no life happened before the 1800s I believe. I could've definitely practiced my presentation a lot more. I was really shaking, but I think i got the point across just fine. Nevertheless, if I practiced it more then it could've been a better presentation. In past science classes we've made models and presentations for the Earth's geological timeline. Though I wasn't familiar with the Archean Eon, I recognized a lot of the other eras, events, and periods. I can apply this to future learning in many subjects, whether it is history class or science class. Or even if I am traveling abroad, and was to check out Australia's stromatolites, or bring up the countries history in a conversation.
